About This ROM
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond takes you back to Sinnoh, with Mount Coronet sitting right in the middle of a region full of old legends, caves, lakes and snowy routes. You begin with Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup and head out with the usual big goal of becoming Pokémon League Champion. Along the way, Team Galactic keeps getting in the way, and their plans eventually lead to Dialga, the legendary Pokémon tied to time. It follows the story of the original Pokémon Diamond closely, but the Switch remake gives Sinnoh a new look and makes a number of small changes to how the adventure plays.
The Grand Underground is one of the places where those changes are easiest to notice. You can dig for treasure, decorate a Secret Base and enter Pokémon Hideaways where different species appear depending on the environment. Super Contest Shows are back as well, along with Capsule Decoration for changing the effects that appear when a Pokémon enters battle. Trading and battling are available through local wireless and online play, so completing the Pokédex doesn’t have to be a completely solo job.
