Hornet wakes up far from Hallownest, taken to a kingdom she knows nothing about. Getting home isn’t as simple as finding a way out. The road through Pharloom keeps climbing, from moss-covered caves and forgotten settlements to the enormous Citadel waiting at the top. Along the way she meets people with their own problems, picks up jobs for them and slowly starts piecing together why she was brought here in the first place. The world is packed with strange creatures too—Nintendo lists more than 200 enemies and over 40 bosses.

Hornet moves nothing like the Knight from the first game. She’s quicker on her feet, can leap and weave through enemies, and has a much larger set of tools to craft and use. Silk is important both in and out of a fight, while traps and other equipment give you different ways of dealing with tougher encounters. Exploration still has that familiar Hollow Knight pull: you spot somewhere you can’t quite reach, remember it, then come back later with the right ability and finally see what was hiding there.
